The ComputerThe computer is a beige Macintosh G3-300. This is where almost all SHotQs recordings are done, directly onto the internal ATA hard drive via a DMan 2044 audio card. The program we use for this is Cubase VST/24 4.1, equipped with some commersial effect plug-ins from Steinberg/Spectral Design (Loudness Maximizer, Magneto) and T.C.Works (Native Bundle, including EQ, reverb and dynamics processing of high quality). There are also the standard plug-ins that come with the program, and around 40 freeware plug-ins from various manufacturers. The SHotQ songs generally use 20-30 audio channels. After mixing down to a stereo audio file, we use Toast and a Yamaha 6x CD-R writer to created CDs, or Audio Catalyst to create mp3s. Apart from this, the computer contains the usual boring computer stuff - but you notice a folder titled " Songs under Construction "! |
