Technosaurus MicroconWe borrowed this little thingy and used it on Topzy. Though the Technosaurus company is most known for their monstrous modular systems, the Microcon is very likely one of the smallest analogue monosynths around - roughly the size of a VHS cassette or so. It's controlled by CV and Gate through mini jacks (although a later model has MIDI input as well). There's also a trig button to try out things from the panel. This is a single VCO synth with suboscillator, a 12/24 dB/oct lowpass filter, an AD envelope with release switch and an LFO. It is pretty OK for basic analogue needs, but not very exciting in any way. We also found it hard to get the filter to close totally somehow. Sounded very good when distorted though! One cool thing is that the mini jacks (CV and audio, if we remember correctly) are stereo jacks, with double functionalities. By using a "Y cable" or similar, you can send audio into the filter of the Microcon, and also control the oscillator and filter CV separately. As stated above, we used it in Topzy - to pinpoint it exactly, check out the Topzy flowchart! |
